Nice looking but useless

Have you had the frustration of talking to someone and while in the middle of an interesting conversation you find yourself talking to yourself without realizing that there is no connection? But then it dawns on you that an aircraft just flew by and, most likely, is the reason for the disruption of your communication line.

Alright. This may be minuscule but when your friend can hear you on the other end but not you hearing him/her then you know your phone is a piece of junk especially, if it just got delivered and it comes from an unsealed box with a label that says, refurbished.

For a very long time I resisted upgrading to this so called smart phones. I thought I could get by but then I realized I couldn't text. Eventually I had to give up my "dinosaur" cellular phones. Of all the available choices, I chose the Palm Treo 700wx. It wasn’t the best but it was good enough. Yes, it was good enough to get me dismayed because I could not be heard on the other end. What the heck? Immediately, I sent it back to Light Year Wireless (LYW), asked them to replace it, and “kindly” told them to get their act together with quality control.

Well, guess what? The year is not over and I have a new issue with the same phone. Whenever I try to activate it in speaker mode, it would not response! Incredible! I thought to myself. Not only did I have one issue I now have a second and surely this cell phone is a piece of junk! I should have flushed it in the toilet but instead, I kept it. My only logical recourse is to reset the system by removing the battery. Unfortunately, I have to continually reset it again and again.

You know there comes a time when one has to make a command decision and say, “Toss this junk out of the window!” And that is what I did; not through the window but to my collection bin. Unless I have a better solution, I will have to put it in my museum of useless phones. As for the battery, I have yet to determine a good course of action.

Perhaps, it is just me and my minor misfortune but as another voice of warning, do stay away from the Palm Treo models (if you’re thinking of getting it). In fact, I would be wary of Light Year Wireless’ line of cell phones and their conditions especially, if they are refurbished and selling them as if they are new.

I thought I had a new brand phone but it wasn’t so. Obviously, there are others who are not impressed with this cell phone, and for a better insight, CNET is a good site to visit.

As I mentioned earlier, the Palm Treo was one of the available choices from LYW. But what about companies like AT&T? Do they sell junk cell phones as well? Well, let me tell you another junk phone incident.

Quality control is questionable
Quality control is questionable

Like me, a friend of mine kept using the 2000 version flip phones for a long time. Eventually, she got the Sony Ericsson. She was so excited but unfortunately it lasted for a short time. Within 3 months her charger port was inoperable. How? While trying to separate the male and female connectors after it was charged, the entire female connector separated itself from the phone. What a cheapo!

Realizing that there was absolutely no way of charging her cell phone in the future, she decided to change carrier. Regarding her insurance, forget it. She didn’t have any. So, she checked with Virgin Mobile and found a good deals with phone types and plans, and opted to get the Samsung Intercept.

As to how soon the Samsung Intercept will fall apart on her is just a matter of time. But overall, it is user-friendly, and its capabilities are great. For example, you get 6.4 hrs of talking time of battery life, you have touch screen, you can enjoy faster web surfing, downloads, messaging, and more with 3G on this phone. At $55 a month with unlimited everything, it sounds like a good deal.

I've had great success with refurbished phones Sounds like you need to find a new dealer. Unfortunately Virgin Mobile doesn't work in rural areas so I opted for page plus.

Page Plus? Another new company using verizon technology? Sounds like they have good rates but, I wouldn't be surprise with their limited phone choices.
